Leaf differs depending on the composition, thickness, manufacturing process, and raw materials of the alloys. Our shop alone offers upwards of fifty distinct types of leaf. At Sakuda Gold & Silver Leaf, we integrate the entire process in-house from manufacture to final sale, and we receive many leaf orders from various artists and businesses.

Gold leaf

Gold leaf is designated as a traditional craft product of Japan. Notably, Entsuke gold leaf has been passed down from ancient times, with each piece carefully selected and hand-crafted by artisans. In 2014, it was designated a Selected Conservation Technique by the Agency for Cultural Affairs. There are two types of gold leaf: Entsuke and Tachikiri, which was developed as a way to respond to large orders. The color of the gold leaf differs depending on the composition of the alloy. Size: Approx. 109 mm x 109 mm / Approx. 127 mm x 127 mm (Tachikiri can be cut to any size you wish under 109 mm.) Thickness: Approx. 1/10,000 mm – 1.3/10,000 mm

Special Thick Leaf

This leaf is made thicker during the manufacturing process and is suited to projects that will be exposed to high temperatures during production, such as ceramics and glass crafts.
